Tonight I had the privilege of being asked to backup good friend of mine at wedding she had booked in Ville Platte. The warm Friday night ceremony was gorgeous, the bride was stunning in her beautiful lace wedding gown and with her in a neat knot and complete with net veil she looked timeless. I really had a great time as I shot backup from the rear of the perfectly lit Catholic Church but truthfully the highlight of the night for me was when I headed over to the reception to get detail shots and guest candids until my friend completed her formal portrait work at the church. The couple had hired a live band to perform at their reception held in Washington at Wolff Hall which was in full swing and entertaining the room when I arrived. Then I saw it: the groom’s cake. Anyone who has ever had an opportunity to talk with me about weddings knows my two favorite things when it comes to weddings are that my favorite part of the ceremony is the look on the groom’s face when he sees his bride and my favorite part of the reception is the most awesome, unique detail, decoration or cake in the room. Tonight the winning detail for me was the groom’s cake! The groom is obviously a hunter and not only did his area of the room reflect his love hunting but his cake—all I can say is WOW. You be the judge. Is this not the most awesome cake ever?!

Sorry guys, my new website does not notify me when I have new comments! It took me a year but I finally found out who did this cake and the specifics on it! The cake and “accessories” are edible but the dog head and duck are actually a figurine. This amazing cake was created by Annie Ruppert in Eunice, Louisiana. She was thrilled that I found her and to speak with me about the cake but she has asked that I NOT publish her phone number publicly on my blog so please email me personally at erin@erintaylorphotography.com so I can pass her number on to you and connect you with this amazing cake lady!
