I was so stoked by the opportunity to take tiny, 3 week old, Ella’s very first portraits today! She is the sweetest baby and it wasn’t too long before she was really getting relaxed and just letting me capture her at her most precious. Thanks to her mommy, Kayla, for honoring me with the privilege to take her sweet baby girl’s first portraits.

Today was probably the most miserable day for portraits that you can imagine, the weather was not cold but oh so windy, not really raining but mostly misty. Definitely a day where a reschedule would have been completely justified but it was Linsay’s birthday (her 21st no less), they were pumped for the session in total rockstar style and so was I so we just went for it and I must say this was one of my favorite sessions so far!

Whew! Today was a very long, busy day as we did Tom and Jessica’s engagement portraits earlier in the day, took a break (i.e. got rid of Tom) and launched into Jessica’s bridals later that afternoon. But I must say, this was definitely one of my favorite sessions to date. Tom and Jessica are a very fun couple, they even had me cracking up! Taken at the State Capitol, both inside and out on the grounds, here are a few shots from their engagement session today. I will be posting some of Jessica’s bridals after their wedding, but don’t worry, you won’t have long to wait, their wedding is only a few weeks away.

Megan and Chris were married in Playa Del Carmen Mexico in July with a reception planned for September. However, thanks to Hurricane Gustav their plans were pushed back a month. I had the pleasure of photographing the reception last night at River Oaks Arts Center in Downtown Alexandria. Their party was probably one of the most fun I have had the privilege of being invited to! From getting dance lessons from the DJ to family shots around the bar, this was a night to remember!

Well, how about being featured in a wedding BOOK? I was recently asked by one of the businesses I work with to put out a fine art wedding book and now, once finished this book with be on display in a number of wedding-related businesses area this area and state. I am looking for brides (or past brides still storing their wedding dresses) to help me put a fresh spin on my work. In the past all of my brides (as well as myself) have been bound by what is traditional or what it expected (even though I tend to stretch the limits pretty often) but this book will feature brides who are fun, fearless and not afraid to break tradition. So as most of you know I have been super-busy this summer and working non-stop (and those who know this probably know because I have been with you!).  Well, the summer rush seems to be slowing so I took a little time to actually design an album!  This is my first coffee table book and I chose one of my favorite bridal sessions from May of this year to design around and really had a lot of fun doing it!  So take a look, let me know what you think and maybe my next album design will belong to you!

So there you go!  I will be taking this week off (I know—*gasp*!).  My baby is turning 1 this weekend and I have to be mommy and put my clients for on the back burner for the week.  But I will be back in full force next week!

A couple weekends ago I was invited to tag along for the Bachelorette Party of a bride who has been sooo great to work with.  I shot her bridals a few weeks ago (cannot wait to share a few of those with you soon!) and this weekend was her Bachelorette Party around Shreveport.  We started out a Superior Bar and Grill where she had a lingerie shower.  Then we jumped on a party bus and headed around town hitting all of Shreveport’s best hot spots as Jenny tried her best to mark off her Bachelorette duties.  It was a fun night I had a great time tagging along!
